Who we are
Sports and dental professionals
working together for the kids
Our mission
We use sports to make oral health education fun for children.
Our story, briefly
Smile Sports began with a basketball camp and a dentist. In November 2025 our team ran a free camp in Pampanga, in the Philippines, bringing together three elementary schools, local coaches and dental professionals on a neighborhood court.
Children with no toothbrush of their own, and no dentist nearby.
Chicago has the same gap, in the same shape, four miles from downtown. So the model came home.

A career college basketball coach: 24 NCAA Tournament games, 25 countries, and stops at eight universities including West Virginia, Loyola, Franklin & Marshall, Case Western Reserve and, currently, Elmhurst. USA Basketball and FIBA certified. He runs the camps, the partnerships and the paperwork.
Ethel S. Alfaro, DDS

Michael Murphy
Director of Camps and Child Safety
Founder of Kids in the Game in New York City, which he started in 2003 with a single bag of used basketballs and grew to serve more than 25,000 children a year. He advises on camp design, staffing and child safety.
Ben Moulton
Director of International Travel
Logistics: travel, meals, facilities and equipment. He was on the first board and was travel manager on the inaugural team trip to Kenya, so he has been doing this since before it had this name.
