This realization led to the creation of Smile Sports, which narrowed its focus to the intersection of Sports Camps and Oral Health Education.
By acting as a specialized “enhancement” to existing sports programs, Smile Sports offers a clear value proposition to partners in both Sports and Dental sectors. They now use the joy of sports to deliver effective, specialized health education.
The Domestic Side: Shifting the Water Narrative to Chicago
In the U.S., specifically Chicago’s diverse neighborhoods like Skokie and Rogers Park, the water-equity challenges are different. Immigrant families often avoid public tap water due to fear or distrust, leading to a reliance on non-fluoridated bottled water or sugary drinks, which causes a rise in early childhood cavities.
Smile Sports addresses this by implementing a “Camp Within a Camp” model. They provide a trusted space to educate families on safely using municipal water and supply tools to ensure proper oral health, bridging the gap between clean water access and athletic development.
